Good writing is a skill.  It can be learned.

Grammar Today: Punctuating Subordinate Conjunctions.  Use a comma only if the subordinate conjunction starts the sentence.  Example: Because I had a flat tire, I was late for school. Don't use a comma if the subordinate conjunction is in the middle of the sentence.  I was late for school because I had a flat tire.
